At Walktall we’re not just interested in big feet and large mens shoes. We’re interested in footwear in general so we thought it might be fun to find out which shoes are the most expensive in the world.

The most expensive flip flops in the world?

PechePlatinum crocodile flip flops – $400 (approx £263)

How much would you be prepared to pay for a pair of flip flops? We normally think of them as a cheap and cheerful part of our summer wardrobe. These flip flops, however, are anything but that!

They’re made with hand-matched crocodile straps and are possibly the most expensive flip flops in the world. And if your conscience won’t allow you to wear a crocodile skin on your foot, PechePlatinum donate 5% of the profits to eco-groups that actually helps out crocs. We’re not sure if the crocodile themselves are so enthusiastic about this scheme!

The most expensive trainers in the world?

Solitaire Kicks’ Nike Air Force One “So Cals” – $50,000 (approx £32,577)

These trainers were presented to rapper Big Boi at the Solitaire Kicks launch party in November 2007. Solitaire Kicks, a customization service, decked them out with the Nike logo cast in gold and adorned with 11-carat diamonds. We’re not sure what size shoe Big Boi takes or if he’s got big feet and needs large mens shoes. It’s hard to tell from this picture whether he’d be a Walktall customer. Do they look like size 15 shoes to you?

The most expensive men’s shoe brand in the word?

Berluti shoes - $1,830 (approx £1,192)

The most expensive off-the-shelf shoes for men include names such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Prada, Edward Green and John Lobb. Topping the list are these distinctive Berluti shoes which fetch over £1000 a pair and were inspired by Andy Warhol.

We’re not sure if Andy Warhol had big feet and needed large footwear or if he would’ve have been a Walktall customer but he was certainly fascinated by shoes and lots of his artwork featured them.

These Berluti shoes, which he inspired, are notable for the patched appearance traditionally reserved for clothing. Because Warhol requested a visible patch only on his right shoe, each set includes an additional left shoe that remains unpatched.

The most expensive slippers in the world?

Harry Winston’s Ruby Slippers – $3 million (approx £1,954,653)

We couldn’t find the world's most expensive slippers for men with big feet. We did however find these which are worth a staggering $3 million! They’re based on the ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz and include 4,600 rubies totalling 1,350 carats as well as 50 carats of diamonds.

The most expensive heels in the world?

Kathryn Wilson pumps - $418,450 (approx £272,641)

These are definitely not something you’ll find in the Walktall range of large mens shoes. For a start imagine how much they would cost if these were size 15 shoes!

Ringing in at a whopping $418,450, shoe designer Kathryn Wilson's diamond covered pumps have the distinction of being one of the most expensive pairs of shoes in the world.
