About the Help for Heroes
Launched in September 2007 Help for Heroes (H4H) aim was to help provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women.
The initial goal was to raise a minimum of £5 million for the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Courtin Headley, Surrey, where they plan to enhance the current facilities by building a new gym and full-sized swimming pool. Since then H4H has donated £500,000 to the SSAFA Forces Help"Home from Home" appeal to provide a relative’s house at Headley Court and Selly Oak Hospital, as well as granting funds for the new Adaptive Adventure Training Team, ‘Battle Back’.
The charity continually raises money through various initiatives and fundraising events such as the rugby union match hosted in 2008 at Twickenham Stadium featuring rugby players from around the world which raised £1.1m.
H4H keeps a "running total" on their website which is updated weekly with the total amount raised, which in April 2009 stood at over £19M

After a global search for a suitable bride, herdsman Bao Xishun ended up marrying a saleswoman from his home city of Chifeng in northern China. Mr Bao, who stands at 2.36m (7ft 8.95in) tall, tied the knot with Xia Shujian, 29 and two-thirds of his height.
The Beijing News reported: "After sending out marriage advertisements across the world and going through a long selection process, the efforts have finally paid off." Mr Bao was confirmed as the world's tallest living man by Guinness World Records last year. He overtook the previous holder, Radhouane Charbib of Tunisia, by just 2mm.
Guinness World Records say Mr Bao was of normal height until 16 but then put on a spurt that doctors were unable to explain, reaching his full height in seven year.
